June 19 is Juneteenth day for Black American citizens. I am embarrassed to admit that I only learned of this holiday a few years ago, after a long career teaching history. I wish now that I could go back and reteach about this holiday to my students right along side other major civic holidays like July 4, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Veteran’s Day. June…
